Journal 4- Human Nature
In this blog, I am going to be talking about the actions that humans have taken towards each other.
For the most part I feel that people have been fairly kind to each other, if not more so than usual, because they're just happy to be in contact with anybody at all after being stuck in their houses with only their families. But, there have been some incidences that have made me feel ashamed, and I have nothing to do with them except that I'm white and I'm human. The police brutality in North America is terrible. One of the more known cases is George Floyd. George Floyd was choked to death by a police officer who refused to release pressure on his neck when he complained about not being able to breathe. Lots of people are posting things about how people can help raise awareness, and there is a number that you can text to help make a difference. There was also a black woman pushed off of her balcony by a police officer and they claimed it was suicide. That happened in Toronto, so Canada is a part of this too.
There have been protests about police brutality and other things like "Black Lives Matter". There are also riots happening in Minneapolis because of/about "Black Lives Matter", other cases of police brutality, and some people having problems with the LGBT community. I say, it's 2020 people! Get with the program, grow up, and learn to accept people the way they are, because they're not going to change just because you disagree with the way they want to live their lives (and by saying "the way they want to live their lives, I'm not implying that being gay is a choice). I think it's so stupid that people are so stuck in the old ways, or their own ways, that they can't accept other ways of living, and I am ashamed and embarrassed to be associated with people that live like this, and can't see other ways of surviving. Everybody is different, but we are all human, so we should act like it and treat everybody equal.
